Tonight I went into the girls room to comfort Ellie who was having a hard time getting to sleep. She turned towards me, and grasped on to my thumb, sighed and fell asleep. I felt extreme happiness and joy. Then I looked over at Adeline, sleeping peacefully with her arms up above her head and another rush of love. This is what mothering is all about. I hope I never forget how I feel tonight.
These little darlings have filled the last 8 months with so much love and joy and a renewed sense of importance and priorities. I love them more than I will ever be able to express. I now "get" what other parents have said in a profound way. This IS the best part of life!
